London Global Shapers (LGS) is a community of volunteers and not a legal entity. Nevertheless, we are committed to protecting your personal data.  This privacy notice sets out how we collect, store and use personal data which is submitted on our website.

Personal data/personal information - any information which can identify an individual

Third Parties - those outside LGS who use data from LGS for defined tasks

 

How Do We Collect Information?

We may collect information about you when we interact with you, including in person, by phone, by email, or via our website.

We also receive information from Third Parties, including ticketing platforms such as Eventbrite, and by word of mouth.

LGS may process personal data of website visitors under the lawful bases of legitimate interest and consent. Special Category Information is processed under further lawful bases including explicit consent and legitimate activities of a charity or non-profit.

 

What Information Do We Collect?

The information we collect may include:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Job title and place of work

  • Social media contact data

 

How Do We Use Your Information?

We may use your personal information to:

  • Provide services to you;

  • Inform you about our services and activities;

  • For administrative purposes (including for events);

  • Enable record keeping (including feedback, surveys); and

  • Comply with a legal requirement

 

We may contact you with service updates and/or marketing content, via your preferred means of communication. Our aim is to avoid sending you unwanted communications.

 

Do we disclose your information to Third Parties?

We will not pass your personal information to other organisations for them to use for their own marketing purposes (e.g. we will never sell your personal information).

We may disclose your personal information in the following circumstances:

  • Where we are required to disclose your personal information in order to comply with applicable laws or the disclosure is necessary for purposes of national security, taxation or criminal investigation;

  • Where we have your written consent to do so.

  • Regarding and including communications with the World Economic Forum

 

How Do We Store and Protect Your Information?

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal data stored on our website and systems.

We keep most information digitally using secure software.

 

What are your rights?

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

 

  • Access your personal information.  You have a right to obtain confirmation that your personal information is being processed and further to request a copy of the personal information that we hold about you. 

  • Amend your personal information.  You may edit your personal information at any time.

  • Request to have your personal information deleted. 

  • Restrict processing of your personal information.  You have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data. We will continue to store your data but not further process it, so we can ensure that the restriction is enforced in the future.

  • Object to processing of your information in certain circumstances. You may object to your personal information being processed for marketing and research purposes.

  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.  If you wish to lodge a complaint or seek advice from a supervisory authority, please contact The Office of the Information Commissioner.

  • Withdraw your consent to processing at any time.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

  • If you are unhappy about our handling of your data, the volunteers will do their best to resolve the matter for you.
